Ancient Roman Wellness
Roman Wellness
Our wellness area evokes the atmosphere of the ancient Roman baths. In Roman times, bathhouses were not only places for bathing — they were also important spaces for relaxation, regeneration and social life.
The classical bathing culture was based on moving through rooms of different temperatures. Warm, hot and cold spaces follow one another, helping the body gradually relax and refresh.

Tepidarium – A Space for Relaxation
The tepidarium is a warm relaxation room where the temperature is typically around 37–39 °C.
It provides a gentle transition between cold and hot bathing areas. The warm environment helps relax the muscles and allows the body to slow down.
Caldarium – Steam and Heat
The caldarium is the hot, high-humidity room of the Roman baths.
Heat and steam create a more intense experience, so shorter stays are usually recommended. The heated walls and benches radiate a steady warmth that helps the muscles relax.

Laconium – Dry, Intense Heat
The laconium is a room with dry, intense heat and is considered the predecessor of the modern sauna.
Temperatures typically range between 55–65 °C, so shorter sessions are recommended. The dry heat helps relax the muscles and prepares the body for cooling down.
Frigidarium – Refreshing Cooling
The frigidarium is the cold pool or cooling area of the baths.
After the warm rooms, the cold water quickly refreshes the body. The change in temperature has an invigorating effect and was an essential part of Roman bathing culture.
